Philosophy

The primary objective of the St. James School Athletic Program is to provide a program of team sports for the students. In order to provide each student with the maximum benefits of our program, coaches, parents, school personnel and student athletes must share a sense of commitment. Our sports programs help to round out the entire educational experience and strive to uphold St. James’ Mission of educating children in mind, body and spirit.

The key goals of the program are...

  • to instill the concept of teamwork and the principles of discipline and commitment applied towards achieving a common goal.
  • to instill self-confidence and to promote self-esteem,
  • to teach athletes to conduct themselves in a good Christian sportsmanship manner on and off the court. To foster this objective, parents, coaches, and spectators are also expected to conduct themselves in the same way.
  • to develop an awareness of the responsibilities of a student athlete,
  • to promote a healthy attitude toward sports participation by fostering an appropriate balance between school, work, recreation, and relaxation.
  • arents and faculty are encouraged and needed to actively participate in the support of the athletic program and related activities. In addition to making this program successful, this participation will demonstrate for our young athletes a spirit of family-school cooperation enthusiasm for the program and its goals.

There is a no-cut policy at St. James, any student who is eligible academically and wishes to participate in a sport will be guaranteed that opportunity.
